How to Make Your Own Natural Cleaners

Do you think you use too many dangerous pesticides when cleaning your home? Are you scared that your kid or pet may become ill because of them? If you are tired of ammonia, acids, bleach and all those poisonous products you are using, here are some easy and effective ways of creating your own nontoxic cleaners and using them in your whole home.

Baking soda has proven to be one of the safest, most commonly used and effective ingredients in house-made products. Simply mix it with water to create a substance that has the power of scrubbing powerful stains and spills off porcelain, bathroom and kitchen floors, kitchen counters, clogged drains, ovens, carpets and rugs and even silverware. Add more or less water and more or less baking soda into the mixture, depending on the size, type and stubbornness of the stains. Use a towel, brush, cotton rag, damp cloth, sponge etc. to apply the paste. You may want to repeat the procedure a couple of times or simply wait more hours in order to be sure that the stains have been eliminated. All in all, when you see the results, you will be amazed and will never want to go back to those hazardous detergents you have been using this whole time.

Other than baking soda, you could use various other ingredients to clean your apartment or house. For example, vinegar and lemon juice are very easy to get, as well as pretty effective. You could use them in order to scrub grease stains off tile, spots off windows and mirrors and make wooden floors shiny as they never were before. Sometimes you will have to mix them with water, but it is not always necessary – for example you don’t have to do it when sanitizing the bathroom floor. One advantage is that you could always replace one with the other – they have the same effect. For example, you or your family may not like the smell of vinegar, so you could simply use lemon juice instead.

It may sound ridiculous, but toothpaste is actually really effective when it comes to cleaning and polishing. For example, you could make your precious diamond ring shiny as new again with toothpaste. In addition, you could easily kill any unpleasant odors coming from the bathroom sink by squirting in some toothpaste (which is comfortably placed right above it), scrubbing it with a sponge and rinsing it out. Last, but not least, you could easily whiten your piano keys and sneakers with the sole use of toothpaste and a toothbrush.

As you can see, using nonpoisonous cleaners is not only safe, but also easy and money-saving. Every household keeps toothpaste, baking soda, vinegar and lemons, so you can clean something right away, without having to go shopping.
