Several recipes for homemade cleaning detergents and cleaning techniques

If you want to live in an eco-friendly way one of the first things you will have to do is to get rid of the detergents from the supermarket that you probably store under your kitchen sink. Why? Because of the poisonous ingredients they consist. And because you can prepare cleaning detergents on your own, using only natural products, which are available at each supermarket. They will threaten neither you and the people you love, nor the nature. In recent decades the literature on the subject has grown very large. You can find all sorts of recipes on the Internet or in the books. In this article we will give you several recipes for the most common cleaning agents and detergents and tips how to make the air in your home cleaner.

We will start with the air, since you can live healthily without breathing clean air. There is an extremely easy way for achieving this. You can do so by growing trees, bushes and flowers, which, through the process photosynthesis, produce oxygen. Of course, if you live in a small apartment you couldn’t be able to grow trees in it, but you can always plant flowers. Except for cleaning the air during the day they are beautiful. We will continue with the detergents. The process of making soap is extremely easy and you can do it in home conditions. Do not forget that the soap you buy from the supermarket is produced via the same chemical reaction between the lye and the animal fats. However, instead of animal fat you can add olive oil or other type of oil. After baking the lye and the oil together wait until the hardened mixture cools and then you can cut into bars with size of your desire. You can add everything you need to achieve just the necessary effect. For instance you can add coffee (liquid coffee and its sediment) to the soap to achieve exfoliating effect on the skin.

There are many recipes, for the preparation of which no "cooking” is required. For instance you can make your own "oxyclean” detergent. All you need is one cup of water, half cup of peroxide and half cup of baking soda. Mix them all together and stir the mixture until it becomes homogenous. Then fill it into a spray bottle. Cleaning the tiles could be a nightmare, because the gaps between them usually collect lots of dirt. However, you can have them cleaned using a homemade detergent. Just mix one portion of baking soda and one portion of borax and add water. Use it against the dirt in your kitchen and in the bathroom.
